A Dark Tale Unfolds
Val, attending a music festival in Oslo, falls victim to a local black metal band. Killed and victimized, she becomes the face of women’s maltreatment. The Old Gods of Norse Mythology decide to rewrite her narrative. They resurrect Val and guide her on a bloody path of revenge. Will Val become a warrior, or something far darker and monstrous?
The Artistic Force Behind
Vanesa Del Rey designs the main cover for the first issue. Variant covers feature illustrators like Maria Llovet, Mike Deodato Jr., and Jae Lee. BOOM! Studios, known for series like BRZRKR by Keanu Reeves and Matt Kindt, and Something is Killing the Children by James Tynion IV, is the conceptual cradle of this release.

About the Creators
Brian Azzarello, in collaboration with Eduardo Risso, created the Harvey and Eisner Award-winning comic 100 Bullets. He also co-authored Batman: Damned with Lee Bermejo. Vanesa Del Rey, a Cuban-born artist, started with concept art for animation. She produced art for Scarlet Witch, Spider-Women Alpha, and Daredevil Annual (2016). Her debut series HIT led to a Harvey Award nomination. She is also known for REDLANDS with Jordie Bellaire.
