Mad Cave Partners with Lunar Distribution to Ride the Next Wave in Comics
In a bold move shaking up the comics distribution scene, Mad Cave has announced an exclusive partnership with Lunar Distribution. This deal includes all imprints like Papercutz, Maverick, and Nakama Press. For bookstores, Mad Cave remains distributed by Simon & Schuster.
According to their press release, this is a “strategic move” aiming to “enhance service reliability and support for retailers.” It’s designed to ensure fans worldwide enjoy a seamless delivery of titles. With this partnership, Mad Cave seems poised to ride a new wave in the shifting landscape of comics distribution.
A Proven Partner for Change
Why Lunar? The answer seems straightforward. Lunar Distribution holds a solid track record of timely deliveries and stellar retailer support. According to Mad Cave’s communication, these attributes align perfectly with Mad Cave Studios’ goals for excellence. The decision, therefore, marks a promising collaboration.
Back in 2022, Mad Cave indicated their intent to include Lunar among their distributors. However, the recent bankruptcy announcement from Diamond Comics set the stage for a change. Like many publishers using both services, Mad Cave chose to place their bets solely on Lunar.
Mad Cave President Mark Irwin emphasized commitment to retailers, describing them as the industry’s backbone. “Lunar Distribution shares our values and vision for the future,” he added, underscoring this partnership’s potential to expand readership even further.
Strengthening Relationships in the Comics Community
This sense of excitement is mutual. Christina Merkler, Co-Owner at Lunar Distribution, echoed similar sentiments in her statement. She praised Mad Cave for continually crafting engaging content that strikes a chord with comic book fans worldwide. Merkler expressed eagerness to elevate their relationship with Mad Cave and take their narratives to broader audiences.
While the announcement didn’t specify when Diamond orders will cease, Mad Cave hinted at a significant shift. The company is gearing up for the final order cut-off for prominent releases like Pop Kill #1 and Blade Forger #1. This transition is expected by early February, with Lunar now being the go-to option for retailers.
In this ever-evolving comics landscape, Mad Cave and Lunar Distribution seem ready to forge ahead. Their partnership speaks volumes about their shared vision and mutual dedication to serving retailers and fans alike.
