By August Tales

Look out heroes, there’s something swinging into the comic book scene and the Disney+ platform. Marvel Animation’s “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” has yet to release its official release date. However, fans won’t have to wait long. Even better, Marvel announced a prequel comic book series, slated for this December, leading up to it.

Meet the Creators

Diving into the exciting five-issue prequel series, fans can expect masterful storytelling. At the helm is Christos Gage, a seasoned Spidey scribe. Additionally, he’s joined by the emerging artist, Eric Gapstur. Together, they plan to craft a unique take on the web-slinger’s earliest days.

Leonardo Romero illustrates the main cover of the first issue. As an added bonus, he’s designed an exclusive Animation Variant Cover. Romero is no stranger to Marvel. Remarkably, he previously lent his talent as a character designer on the animated series.

A New Take On Spidey

Chronicle Peter Parker’s transformation into the hero we know, the series celebrates Spidey’s humble comic book origins. Interestingly, readers journey alongside Parker as he first discovers his powers. Follow him as he chooses to become a hero, even christening his alias and designing his costume. Then, brace for suspense, as Peter must navigate his freshman year as a crime-fighting vigilante. A new twist awaits those who think they know his story.

Words from the Writer

“I’ve relished writing Spider-Man’s adventures in comics and the Insomniac video games. However, his earliest exploits eluded me until now,” Gage confesses. He adds, “This book offers a fresh perspective on those formative times. Despite showcasing Peter Parker, the Spidey we adore, he’s got new supporting characters—like Nico Minoru from Runaways—and some shocking twists!”

Mark Your Calendars

Finally, you can reserve your copy of “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1(of 5).” Anticipate its arrival in comic shops on Wednesday, December 11th. No matter if you’re a die-hard Spidey fan or a casual reader, this comic should be on your radar. Keep an eye out; it just may redefine what you think you know about Peter Parker’s ascent into heroism.

Remember to keep your web-slingers ready!
