Nash-Betts Hints at Ryan Murphy’s Project

Grotesquerie: A Unique Horror-Drama Fusion by Ryan Murphy

Article by August Tales

In a mysteriously thrilling spin, Ryan Murphy drops a horror show to keep you on the edge of your seat. Titled ‘Grotesquerie,’ set to debut on FX, it promises to delineate Murphy’s creative prowess in a new light. This new offering is a far cry from Murphy’s prime horror series, ‘American Horror Story.’ So, fans, prepare to unlearn what you thought you knew about Murphy, the creator.

Star of the show, Niecy Nash-Betts, affirms this. “Murphy dishes something unique with this one. It deviates from everything I’ve seen him do,” she expresses eagerly to EW. In Nash-Betts’ own words, if you’re a fan of her, Murphy, or Travis Kelce, you’re in for a treat.

Grotesquerie: A Melting Pot of Genres

Unlike traditional genres such as Murphy’s ‘Scream Queens’ or ‘Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,’ Grotesquerie is not your typical horror or drama. Nash-Betts cleverly puts it as a “hybrid of dark drama and horror.”

Travis Kelce’s Acting Debut

Grotesquerie brings to the screen football star, Travis Kelce, debuting in an undisclosed role. Nash-Betts had nothing but praise for the NFL star. “He was a treat to work with. He prepared diligently, took notes, and showed up on set ready. He delivered wonderfully on camera,” she says.

Grotesquerie: Setting the Scene

Grotesquerie shakes a small community to its core with a series of shocking crimes. Detective Lois Tryon, played by Nash-Betts, sees in these crimes a peculiar, personal echo. Haunted by demons of her past, a strained relationship with her daughter, and a husband in long-term care, her life mirrors the chaos around her.

Facing dead-end leads and unsure of her next step, she turns to Sister Megan, played by Michaela Diamond. A nun and journalist, Sister Megan paints a sharp contrast to Detective Lois. Despite carrying heavy scars from her past, she upholds belief in human goodness.

Grotesquerie also stars Lesley Manville, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, and Raven Goodwin. Get ready to explore this intriguing tale. Catch ten thrilling episodes of Grotesquerie on FX, come September 25th.
