Netflix to Add 13 AMC Series in New Content Deal
Clear your virtual viewing calendars, streaming aficionados. A bibliophile-sized portion of AMC programming is set to drop on Netflix’s platform next month. Yes, that’s right. Our beloved streaming giant and AMC network have clenched hands once again, sealing a deal that’ll bring a surge of popular AMC shows to your screens.
Leading the Charge: Zombies and Witches
Leading the charge is the first season of the highly acknowledged branch of the zombie apocalypse family, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, among eight full seasons of Fear the Walking Dead. Further sweetening the deal, we’ll also see the debut of season one of lauded series Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches. If your appetite for gritty narratives isn’t satiated by then, AMC’s other offerings this season include shows like Preacher and Into the Badlands.
Full List of New Additions
Here’s a brief glimpse at the full list, dropping August 19, for all you preview hounds out there:
- A Discovery of Witches
- Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire S1
- Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches
- Dark Winds
- Fear the Walking Dead
- Gangs of London
- Into the Badlands
- Kevin Can F** Himself*
- Monsieur Spade
- Preacher
- That Dirty Black Bag
- The Terror S1
- The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon
The Expiration Date
As with all good things, there’s a catch. This content infusion comes with an expiration date. The curated series will only grace our Netflix screens for a year. But (and it’s a big but), should these series snag heavy viewership ratings on AMC courtesy of their Netflix exposure, we might just witness an extension.
A History of Collaboration
AMC and Netflix haven’t been shy about collaborating before. Let’s not forget that it was through Netflix that Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and The Walking Dead transformed into cultural powerhouses.
Looking Forward to 2025
And as a cherry on top, Netflix users can look forward to more AMC goodness in 2025 with The Walking Dead: Dead City season one and The Ones Who Live season one. These shows will also be available commercial-free (a major perk for even the lower-tier Netflix subscribers).
While this deal may not necessarily spell a long-term partnership between AMC and Netflix, since we saw several AMC shows pop-up on Max earlier this year, only time will answer that – and hopefully, more bone-chilling TV series in our queues.
