Agatha All Along Unveils New MCU Twists
In a fresh exploration of the magical side of the MCU, ‘Agatha All Along’ recently unveiled its inaugural pair of episodes. Despite the MCU’s under delivery on magical elements so far, this series appears to buck the trend, unveiling conjurers of immense energy. Penned by August Tales, this article dives into the first releases, hinting at some gripping events.
Surprising Links and Future Projects
Adding a pinch of surprise into the poise, the series paves the way for forthcoming MCU productions. As we look deeper, there are whispers of links to a vanquished villain – Dormammu from the Doctor Strange movie. Not too long ago, we debated a whisper doing the rounds that Dormammu would return to the MCU wizardry. At the time, we suspected this would occur through Clea, a character first introduced in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, ‘Agatha All Along’ drops another clue, referencing yet another character tied to Dormammu: Nicholas Scratch, whose name pops up in an old children’s room. Could he be disguised as Agatha’s pet bunny, Señor Scratchy?
Keeping with Scratch’s Comic Origins
The series might stay close to the comic book origins of Nicholas Scratch. In previous iterations, Scratch is Agatha’s son, though their relationship lacks warmth. Scratch and Agatha, both powerful magic users, hail from the obscure town of New Salem, a place Agatha once headed. Drawing from folklore, Nicholas’ name hints at the ominous – “Old Nick” and “Mr. Scratch,” both interchangeable with the Devil. So, when Agatha leaves New Salem behind for mundane city living, it’s not surprising that Scratch takes a dark path, leading a coup against his mother.
A Serving of Subterfuge and Betrayal
In an unfortunate twist, Scratch nearly executes her before New Salem’s citizens rise against him, forcing him into the Dark Realm where Dormammu reigns supreme. We see Scratch turning to Dormammu, aiming for the Sorcerer Supreme title. After the fall of New Salem, Scratch reappears in Centerville, where he parades as “Mayor Nicholas,” amidst townsfolk possessed by evil entities. Here, Patsy Walker, aka Hellcat, discovers the town under siege – manipulated by a sinister alliance between developers, the Sons of the Serpent, and Salem’s Seven. The Avengers and Thunderbolts arrive for the rescue, paving way for Patsy to unveil Scratch’s link with Dormammu and their grand plan to conquer Hell and catapult Scratch as Sorcerer Supreme. However, other Hell-Lords successfully foil their elaborate scheme.
Possible MCU Endgame
Looking at how the story is unfolding, MCU’s return of Dormammu seems possible, with Agatha already in play, the Thunderbolts due at the end of next year, and Nicholas Scratch oscillating in the background. What will follow may not be a carbon copy of the comics, but the incorporation of Scratch and Dormammu in future Doctor Strange projects seems plausible. What’s your take on this emerging narrative?
