Nicolas Cage to Star in Spider-Man Noir Series
In the other-dimensional playground of the Spider-Verse, things are about to take a film-noir turn. Prime Video, with its flair for the dramatic, has finally announced a new series featuring Spider-Man Noir. Nicolas Cage will reprise his role from “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” Fargo and New Girl star Lamorne Morris will join him.
Bringing Noir to Life
Amazon, during its upfront presentations, revealed the go-ahead for the Spider-Man Noir series. Nicolas Cage will move from the recording booth to live-action. Morris will play Robbie Robertson, the affable editor of The Daily Bugle. Brendan Gleeson of “The Banshees of Inisherin” has also been cast, but his role remains a mystery. Fans can catch this visually striking series on Prime Video and MGM+.
Adding Star Power
Wu Assassins’ star Li Jun Li will also join the cast. She’ll play a nightingale at New York’s premier nightclub, adding musical and dramatic depth to the series.
The Strings That Pull the Spider-Web
Harry Bradbeer of Fleabag and Killing Eve fame will direct the first two episodes. Oren Uziel of 22 Jump Street and Steve Lightfoot of Marvel’s The Punisher will serve as executive producers. From the Spider-Verse think-tank, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal also join as executive producers.
The Tangled Web We Weave
For those unfamiliar with Spider-Man Noir, here’s a quick recap. The series follows a gritty, hard-boiled PI (Cage) in 1930s New York. He becomes the city’s lone masked vigilante, navigating a cloak-and-dagger world.
Prime Time for Prime Video
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, expressed his excitement about the project. “Expanding the Marvel universe with Noir is an incredibly special opportunity,” Sanders said. “Nicolas Cage, our new superhero, is incredibly talented. Alongside Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Amy Pascal, and Sony, we aim to authentically augment this franchise.”
As Spider-Verse devotees, we can’t help but be excited. This version of the character peaks our interest. Who doesn’t want more of Nicolas Cage?
