“Darth Plagueis Debuts in Acolyte Finale”
The Devious Peek of Darth Plagueis
They say people love a surprise party. That’s apparently true if you’re a Sith Lord peeping out behind a rock. For the devoted Star Wars geek, the final episode of the first season of The Acolyte, served as a justified climax when Darth Plagueis, the Sith Lord, decided to make his debut in the cinematic realm. His appearance was understated, just surveying the scene between the Stranger (Manny Jacinto) and his soon-to-be apprentice, Osha (Amandla Stenberg).
The Infamous Immortal Sith
To give a bit of context for those not up to speed, Darth Plagueis germinated in the Star Wars garden during the Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Chancellor Sheev Palpatine spun the tale of Plagueis, portraying him as a master of the Force who had unlocked the secret to immortality. There was a catch; however, this eternal life required Plagueis to shift his consciousness into a new body, thus abandoning his original mortal shell.
Sheev’s Master
What Palpatine failed to mention was the nugget of inside information that it was Plagueis who was his master. Much like the eager student, Sheev squeezed out all the knowledge from Plagueis and even enhanced it. It’s no surprise then that in the events of The Rise of Skywalker, Palpatine uses Plagueis’s transference method to extend his life.
The Acolyte at the Center
The plot of The Acolyte orbited around Mae and Osha — two slices of the same soul created withstand the trials of a deep witch’s coven. As the first season ended, the Sith master Plagueis appeared to be working in the shadows to create a perfect vessel awaiting his immortal entry.

The Ideal Vessel
Imagine the ecstasy of finding a blank canvas imbued with the strong Force to implant your consciousness. So, was Plagueis executing dry runs with Mae and Osha before creating Anakin to be his true heir?
Conclusion: Patience is the True Force
Alas, super fans of Star Wars will be teetering on the edge of their seat, for definitive answers are yet to surface with the potential for a second season of The Acolyte. In the meantime, the discontent or delight in finally encountering Plagueis live will have to suffice. Whether you’re a Force novice or a Star Wars junkie, hold your lightsaber high and may the patience be with you.
