Salem Strikes in Solo Comic Saga!

Sabrina’s Purr-fect Nightmare, The Nine Lives of Salem, Slinks into Comic Shops This October

Sabrina’s trusty feline sidekick, Salem, finally gets a moment in the comic limelight this October, courtesy of Archie Comics. In a twist of kitty fate, the famous furry familiar takes the reins (or should we say, claws) in “The Nine Lives of Salem,” a hair-raising horror one-shot that will make your fur stand on end.

Back with a blood-curdling meow, this new standalone endeavor is a product of the sinister synergy between writer Cullen Bunn and artists Dan Schoening and Ben Galvan. They’re weaving an enthralling web of restless demons, warlock duels, and electrifying feline sorcery. It’s like tossing a balls of yarn into a haunted mansion and watching what gets unraveled.

Fluffy Feline to Fearsome Felon

TV-loving, tuna-savoring, wise-talking Salem has never been this terrifying or tantalizing. Archie Comics Senior Director of Editorial, Jamie L. Rotante, described her thrill about the eerie return. It’s “pawsitively riveting,” she charmingly stated with not a shred of fear or skepticism in her voice. After all, who’d be scared of a cute, cuddly, little kitty with slight demonic tendencies?

This whimsical wonder is part of Archie’s “Chilling Adventures Presents” series of horror one-shots, and gives a spooky spotlight to our four-legged friend. Rivaling the popularity of his Netflix stardom, we find Salem poising (or pouncing) himself as the cat-egorical occult investigator of the Archie Universe. Cue eerie, hair-raising soundtrack and flickering shadows.

Feline Fights and Frisky Frolics

With this particular Salem spinoff, our once quaint and cuddly cat surprisingly develops an appetite for… occult investigations. A throwback to his early days of a one-shot adventure sees him defending local strays from the dark designs of an evil magician – kind of like a feline Batman with a hint of witchcraft, if you stretch your imagination.

Promising to be equally riveting in perspective, this spine-chilling saga pitches Salem against his fellow animals in magic-infused fights, finally clawing him towards a new existence. After all, there’s no business like “show claws-business.”

A Purr-suit of Horror

Schoening spoke enthusiastically about returning to the domain of Archie Horror, with the anticipation of a cat discovering a ball of tinfoil. “I’m grateful to be back, and to sink my teeth into this terrifying story,” he confessed. Working closely with the talented Galvan, they’ve sculpted a host of spine-tingling new characters guaranteed to make your skin crawl.

“The Nine Lives of Salem” hisses onto shelves on October 16 at comic shops nationwide. Terrifyingly talented Matt Herms handles colors, while Jack Morelli gives life to the ghostly letters. All this coupled with an open-to-order variant cover from Robert Hack, makes for an irresistible pre-Halloween treat. Reserve your copy today, before bad luck befalls on those weak-willed and cat-curious thrill seekers out there.

The Unraveling Horror

In “The Nine Lives of Salem, “, we find our cat protagonist haunted by past mistakes. Once a burly warlock punished to live the rest of his life as a housecat, Salem’s past misdeeds as a warlock and misuses of power, catch up to him, like coughing up a hairball. And when old foes return thirsting for revenge, he might then, wish he had some of his nine lives left to spare.

Word on the street is the comic will be artfully crafted by Cullen Bunn, Dan Schoening, and Ben Galvan, with colors by Matt Herms and eerie letters by Jack Morelli. The tale is to be framed by a captivating main cover penned by Dan Schoening and a variant cover by Robert Hack.

Can’t wait till Halloween to dive into this catty horror? Unlucky for you, you’ll have to wait till October 16 to get your claws on this chilling encounter.
