Greenland: Migration Promises Greater Thrills and Global Scale Adventure
Deep in the heart of the Windy City at FanExpo Chicago, Collider’s Steve Weintraub hosted an electrifying panel featuring Gotham alumni Morena Baccarin and Ben McKenzie. The duo dished out tantalizing details about the much-anticipated sequel to the 2020 disaster flick Greenland, now titled Greenland: Migration.
Behind the Scenes of “Greenland: Migration”
Baccarin didn’t hold back when talking about the grueling process of filming the sequel. Known for her diverse roles, she surprised fans by revealing just how intense the experience was. “It was the hardest shoot of my life,” she confessed. The glamour of Hollywood seemed far removed from this set, as she bluntly shared, “It was physically draining, emotionally draining.”
The first film followed the harrowing journey of the Garrity family as they battled against a world-ending catastrophe caused by a comet’s fragments. Their desperate quest for survival took them to Greenland, capturing audiences with its raw emotional depth. This set the stage for the sequel, which promises to up the ante in every way.
Stepping Up the Sequel Game
Baccarin also emphasized the high-pressure environment on set, noting that director Ric Roman Waugh likely felt the strain as well. Despite the challenges, she remains optimistic about the final product. “I think that the film has really wonderful things going for it. I feel like it was a blur of exhaustion and running and crying, and much like the first, really,” she remarked with a touch of humor.
Ben McKenzie added to the excitement, hinting that the sequel expands the story’s scope. “The second movie does have a more global feel to it. It seems to provide a similar experience to the viewer, but even grander, even bigger. It’s pretty cool, a lot of stunts,” he teased, leaving fans eager for what’s to come.
The Anticipation Builds
If you haven’t caught the original Greenland yet, there’s still time to jump on this rollercoaster before the sequel hits theaters. The first film is available to stream on Max, and for those without a subscription, it’s also available for rent or purchase on Prime Video. As we await Greenland: Migration’s debut on the big screen, the anticipation is palpable. Remember, it’s not the end of the world… yet.
