Shang-Chi Director Rumored for Spider-Man 4
Written by August Tales
Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed Shang-Chi in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is making a comeback. Reports indicate that he is in conversations about directing Spider-Man 4. Cretton was originally meant to helm Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, with Marvel’s decision to shift focus from Kang to a Robert Downey Jr-led Doctor Doom, he left the project. Consequently, Avengers 5, announced majorly at Comic-Con, morphed into Avengers: Doomsday.
Diving Into the Spider-Man 4 Details
Spider-Man 4 specifics originate from reputed entertainment source, The Hollywood Reporter (THR). Sony and Marvel are plowing full throttle with the movie, planning to begin shooting early next year. Rumors suggest Cretton’s involvement as director is almost a done deal. Apparently, Marvel always sought to reel him back in. This move also suggests a promising future for the Wonder Man series, initially produced by Cretton.
Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are rumored to return as scriptwriters for Spider-Man 4. Similarly, Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are expected to be back as producers. Despite these details, the film remains without a confirmed release date or formal announcement. Rest assured, Tom Holland will reappear in his triumphant role.
Cretton has other projects under his belt, including Lionsgate’s live-action Naruto movie. Known for his immaculate storyteller style, it’s yet to be seen how Cretton’s commitment to this web-slinging sequel will affect his other ventures.
Probing Spider-Man 4 Plot Spoilers
Presently, the plot for Spider-Man 4 remains shrouded in mystery. However, the last Spider-Man movie, No Way Home, ended on an intriguing note. Peter Parker’s identity as Spider-Man was wiped from the world’s memory. Even his closest allies, including the beloved MJ (played by Zendaya), lost all knowledge of Peter. It’s likely that Spider-Man 4 will build from this pivotal point.
Speculation has been rife about the direction of Spider-Man 4. Theories suggest it could either veer towards another multiverse-themed movie or adopt a more grounded, street-level plot. Insiders claim that Spider-Man 4 won’t be another multiverse instalment. Instead, the story should place Peter Parker in his 19/20 years as he and his friends transition to college post-high school graduation.
Although viewers won’t be treated to another multiverse journey, there’s a consensus that Spider-Man 4 will mirror the magnitude of an Avengers-level event. However, like all good superhero plotlines, the details remain closely guarded. Spider-Man 4 certainly promises to be an adventure that’s worth waiting for.
