Suicide Squad Isekai Anime Launches Webtoon on August 25

Warner Bros. Japan and Wit Studio just dropped some big news. On August 25, the highly anticipated “Suicide Squad Isekai” anime is getting its very own webtoon. This webtoon will be available on LINE MANGA and Jump TOON, marking a significant milestone for Wit Studio as their first-ever simultaneous webtoon adaptation of an anime. The studio, known for its dynamic and visually striking work, promises a full-color experience that will dive even deeper into the chaotic world of “Suicide Squad Isekai.”

Behind the Scenes: Swordplay in Action

Fans are in for a treat beyond the webtoon. The official website also released exclusive behind-the-scenes footage showcasing the intense sword battles between Harley Quinn and Katana. These clips, drawn from the anime’s first and seventh episodes, offer a closer look at the fierce choreography and artistry that bring these characters to life.

The anime initially made its debut in the U.S. on Max and Hulu on June 27, launching with its first three episodes. After the premiere, episodes rolled out weekly, keeping fans on the edge of their seats until the thrilling conclusion with the 10th episode.

A Global Phenomenon

The excitement wasn’t confined to the U.S. On the same day as its American release, “Suicide Squad Isekai” hit screens worldwide. Territories including Korea, France, Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, and Mainland China all joined the party, broadcasting the series on platforms like Aniplus, Laftel, ADN, HBO GO, bilibili, IQYI, and Anime Times. Japan, however, had to wait a little longer, with the series premiering on July 5 on Tokyo MX and BS11. But the wait was worth it—viewers in Japan can stream the anime across numerous services such as ABEMA, U-NEXT, and Anime Hōdai.

Meet the Voice Cast

Bringing the characters to life are some of the biggest names in the industry. Anna Nagase lends her voice to the mischievous Harley Quinn, while Yūichirō Umehara tackles the dark and unpredictable Joker. The cast also includes Reigo Yamaguchi as Deadshot, Takehito Koyasu as Peacemaker, Jun Fukuyama as Clayface, Subaru Kimura as King Shark, Taku Yashiro as Rick Flag, Kujira as Amanda Waller, Chika Anzai as Katana, Reina Ueda as Fione, Mamiko Noto as Aldora, Jun Fukushima as Cecil, Yōji Ueda as Ratcatcher, Hōchū Ohtsuka as Thinker, Shizuka Itō as Enchantress, and Tarō Kiuchi as Killer Croc. This ensemble cast ensures that every character, whether a seasoned criminal or a mystical creature, jumps off the screen with vibrant energy.

Plot: A Dark Journey through Isekai

The story takes place in the gritty, crime-ridden streets of Gotham. Amanda Waller, the ruthless head of A.R.G.U.S., assembles a team of the most dangerous criminals: Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Peacemaker, Clayface, and King Shark. Their mission? Enter an otherworldly realm connected to Gotham through a mysterious gate. This new world is a brutal land of swords and sorcery, where orcs roam and dragons dominate the skies—a true “ISEKAI.”

Once there, the chaos ensues. The team, captured by the Kingdom’s soldiers, finds themselves imprisoned with a ticking clock—72 hours until the bomb on their necks explodes. Their only hope for survival lies in a dangerous deal with Queen Aldora: defeat the hostile Imperial army, or die trying. The stakes couldn’t be higher as they charge into battle with their lives on the line.

“Run and die. Lose and die. With everything on the line, can Harley Quinn and The Suicide Squad survive in this twisted ISEKAI?” The series dares you to find out.

The Talent Behind the Scenes

Eri Osada, known for their work on “Jujutsu Kaisen” and “Gintama,” directs the anime at Wit Studio. The writing duo, Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara, both of “Re:ZERO-Starting Life in Another World-” fame, craft the series’ scripts. Renowned manga artist Akira Amano, the creative force behind “Reborn!” and “Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective,” designs the original characters. Animator Naoto Hosoda, who contributed to “Seiren” and “Digimon: The Movie,” adapts these designs for animation. Kenichiro Suehiro, a composer celebrated for his work on “Golden Kamuy” and “Undead Unluck,” provides the music. Overseeing the animation production is Shinya Tsuruoka from Warner Bros. Japan.

A Soundtrack to Remember

Music fans, rejoice! Tomoyasu Hotei rocks the opening theme, “Another World,” while Mori Calliope delivers a powerful closing with “Go-Getters.” These tracks perfectly capture the anime’s intense energy and epic scope.

“Suicide Squad Isekai” continues to push boundaries and captivate audiences worldwide, whether through its anime, upcoming webtoon, or the pulse-pounding soundtrack. Keep your eyes peeled for the webtoon release on August 25, and prepare for a wild ride into another world.
