Sweet Paprika Spinoff Debuts This November

Orlando and Pilliu Team Up for “Sweet Paprika” Spinoff

Steve Orlando and Emilio Pilliu are set to release Sweet Paprika: Open For Business, a new spinoff series from Image Comics, launching in November 2024. This five-issue series builds on the characters introduced in Sweet Paprika: Black, White & Pink. Produced by Arancia Studio, the same team behind Mirko Andolfo’s bestselling titles, the spinoff promises a blend of comedy, romance, and eccentric characters.

A New Chapter at Infernum Press

Sweet Paprika: Open For Business follows Aubrey Jean, a young employee at Infernum Press. He’s eager to impress his hero and boss, Miss Paprika, while navigating a complicated relationship with Persica, a friend with benefits who might want something more. Just as Aubrey and Persica settle into a comfortable open relationship, their lives are thrown into chaos by the arrival of Kren, who disrupts their delicate balance.

Amidst the turmoil in his personal life, Aubrey gets a chance to prove his worth by managing Infernum Press’s most challenging client—Durian, an eccentric and unstable author. The series explores whether Aubrey can handle Kren, save his relationship with Persica, and meet the demands of his unpredictable client.

Creative Team’s Passion for the Project

Steve Orlando shared his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “I’ve never had as much fun working on a book as I have with Sweet Paprika: Open For Business. It’s raw, real, provocative, and, most of all, fun! Emilio and I are completely in sync, and he’s elevating every panel beyond my wildest dreams.”

Emilio Pilliu echoed Orlando’s excitement, stating, “This project feels tailor-made for me. The excesses, the romance, the serious moments, and the comic scenes—it’s everything I love to draw. Working on this has been a dream.”

Mirko Andolfo, the creator of the original Sweet Paprika, also expressed her admiration for the spinoff: “When Steve proposed this follow-up, we didn’t hesitate. The more I read, the more envious I become—I would have loved to create it myself! It’s deep, funny, and 100% Paprika-style. Emilio’s art and colors are fantastic, and I’m sure fans will enjoy this story as much as we do.”
