Top Autobots from the Original Series

Assessing the Autobot Heavies: Top Transformers by Power and Prowess

By August Tales
The “Transformers” franchise relishes in brimming power within its robotic characters. Nevertheless, among these husky avatars lie a handful of Autobots displaying a surprising powerhouse feature. Not all necessarily destined for military glory, these machines showcase a strength transcending mere muscular prowess, often equipped with artillery that can radically change the battlefield scene.

 The Autobots: Beyond Brawn

Some Autobots hold an intriguing exterior, exuding power despite insignificant measurements. Consequently, these powerhouse candidates include colossal Combiners or the relatively larger Titans and City-Bots. Possessing boundless arms, distinctive transformation modes, or considerable consolidated power, these Autobots singlehandedly dictate the battle’s direction.

Amongst them lies the humble yet potent Blaster, ranking 20th on the strongest Autobots hierarchy. Despite an initial impression of diminished power – morphing into an ’80s “Ghetto Blaster” – this modest character transforms the Autobot landscape with his spying abilities and sonic powers. With his pivotal role in consolidating Autobot forces on both Earth and Cybertron, Blaster proves an invaluable ally.

Strength in Unlikeliest Forms

Taking the 19th spot, Bumblebee personifies an Autobot powerhouse veiled in soft exteriors. Initially coming off as the least threatening, Bumblebee’s actual strength lies in his expert spy skills. He’s an information reservoir about Earth and helps the Autobot unit to breach Decepticon plans – too formidable a character to underestimate, especially with increased strength via an outer shell upgrade.

The laid-back but tough Jazz occupies the 18th position. His alternate Porsche form and pivotal role as Optimus Prime’s trusted lieutenant affirm his Autobot status. Jumping onto rockets and jump-kicking adversaries, the medical officer Ratchet, the 17th powerhouse, unearths his strength through perseverance and strategic problem-solving.

Mighty Feminine Power

Playing significant roles, the number 16 power player Arcee shifts beyond the female stereotype in classic cartoons. Her valuable contribution to thwarting enemies in Transformers: The Movie and subsequent series boosts Arcee’s status to a revered warrior. Next up on the powerhouse list, at number 15, is Brawn, a domineering mini-bot smashing stereotypes about size and power.

Higher Ranks of Power

Leading the Junkions, Wreck-Gar at 14 depicts resilience and repair skills unmatched, followed by Ultra Magnus at 13. Optimus Prime’s successor, Rodimus Prime, ranks number 12, embodying the former leader’s virtues whilst grappling with self-doubt and second guessing. Naturally, Optimus Prime, exhibiting faultless character and heroic fervor, ranks an impressive number 11.

Rounding up the top 10 is Grimlock, the Dinobots leader, showcasing brutal power, swiftly backed up by the high-flying Jetfire’s mettle and intelligence at number 9. Unarguably built for war, Roadbuster lands at number 8, unifying brain and brawn for Autobot victory.

Enter the Titans

Leading the Protectobots to create the 7th ranking, powerful Gestalt Defensor, and following closely at 6th position, is the sky-dominating Superion illustrating single-minded determination. Number 5 Computron harnesses computational brilliance with immense physical power, and invincible Omega Supreme, commodious and strong, spearheads Titans at number 4.

The undervalued but indomitable Grandus, ranking third, showcases his gargantuan size and power, followed by Metroplex embodying an entire city’s power with his signature transformation cog. Ranking number one, Fortress Maximus stands as the reigning powerhouse amongst Autobots – using its unique skill set, the Master Sword, and a splendid array of arsenals to protect and annihilate any potential threat.
