The stage is set for the most delightful gathering of the season – Small Press Expo (SPX), arriving September 14-15, 2024. The heartbeat of the indie comics & graphic novel scene, SPX takes root at Marriott in North Bethesda, Maryland.
Meeting Great Minds Under One Roof
In an unexpected turn of events, our special guest Chris Gooch, author of ‘In Utero,’ ‘Under-Earth,’ ‘Deep Breaths,’ ‘Bottled’, among others, lands on US soil from Down Under. A meeting with the man awaits at table M10B.
Striding further into the expo, the Top Shelf booth (W56-W59) guarantees an exciting encounter with three more exceptional creators. Dear reader, prepare yourself for fan moments aplenty.

Set your sights on the aroma of freshly baked narratives coming your way. A Chance to Converse Slim to None
A multitude of panel discussions intertwines with the soul of the expo.
On Saturday at 4pm, “Queer In All Universes” unfurls in the White Oak room, featuring Hannah Templer (Cosmoknights) and others. Followed closely by “Teen Apocalypse” at 5:30pm in the White Flint Amphitheater, starring Chris Gooch (In Utero), Ricky Lima (Undergrowth), Julian Hanshaw (Space Junk), and several others.
On Sunday at 1pm, “The Pitfalls of Time Travel” concocts thrill in the White Flint Amphitheater, with Jess Fink (We Can Fix It) and others. At 2pm, “Altered Realities” takes over the same venue with Nate Powell (Swallow Me Whole, Come Again), soaring to new heights. “Big Concepts in Non-Fiction” seals the day at 3:30 pm in the White Oak Room with Nate Powell (March, You Don’t Say) in the limelight.
The Glittering Finale
The climax is set for Sunday as Hannah Templer’s work ‘Cosmoknights’ competes for an Ignatz Award—one any comic enthusiast would dream to bag. Voting lines are now open for netizens—register and have your say! Now that’s a sweet slice of democracy in the world of indie comics.
