August Tales
In the world of Channel Surfing TV picks, darkness frequents the scenes. Crime and supernatural exploits pull the strings. “High Potential” finds the LAPD enlisting unparalleled aid. While “Agatha All Along” features a witch coven navigating deadly terrain. Finally, “The Penguin” ushers in the next surge of The Batman Saga.
An Unconventional Savior in High Potential
“High Potential” takes its roots from a well-received French series, HPI. It chronicles the life of a single mother, Morgan, juggling three kids while working as a station cleaner for the LAPD. Sound ordinary? However, Morgan’s dazzling intellect begs to differ. Soon enough, the LAPD spot her uncanny wit and hire her as a crime consultant. Morgan infuses her own rules into investigations, irking her traditionalist detective partner.
Featuring Kaitlin Olson as the lead, the series gathers a well-rounded cast including Daniel Sunjata, Javicia Leslie, Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb, and Judy Reyes. Authored by Drew Goddard of “The Good Place” and “The Martian” fame, the show has Todd Harthan, Sarah Esberg, Dan Etheridge, and Rob Thomas wearing executive producers’ caps. “High Potential” graces the screen on Tuesday, September 17, exclusively on ABC.
Witching Season: A Spellbinding Return in Agatha All Along
Agatha Harkness seared herself into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in “WandaVision”. Now, she makes her triumphant return after the tragic loss of her magical prowess. A spell chains her to her small-town gossip guise, Agnes. Eager to reclaim her power, Agatha must tread the perilous Witches’ Road. To survive, she culls together a fresh coven and embarks on her mission.
The first two episodes of “Agatha All Along” make their magical debut on Wednesday, September 18, on Disney+.
The Penguin: A Power Surge in Gotham
Following the trailblazing triumph of Matt Reeves’ “The Batman”, the Gotham underworld suffers a power vacuum. The demise of crime kingpin Carmine Falcone opens up opportunities for his ambitious lieutenant, Oswald Cobblepot.
“The Penguin” narrates Cobblepot’s journey as he maneuvers to fill Falcone’s gaping leadership void. His takeover won’t be smooth, with Carmine’s vengeful daughter Sofia emerging as a formidable adversary.
Catch the series premiere of “The Penguin” on Thursday, September 19, exclusively on HBO. The chaotic reign of Oswald Cobblepot awaits.
