This isn’t the first time O’Brian and Powell share the screen. They previously starred together in the summer hit, Twisters. Now, they’re reuniting for the Edgar Wright-directed adaptation of Stephen King’s dystopian narrative, originally penned under Richard Bachman.

The Running Man plunges viewers into a dystopian society. A tyrannical regime uses violent game shows as a tool for control. One man enters the deadly game show, The Running Man, out of desperation. He’s hoping to secure finances for his sick daughter.

Contestants must flee from merciless hunters in this game. Surviving longer equates to earning more. This desperate protagonist disrupts the format, uncovering the show’s sinister secrets. Powell slips into the shoes of the desperate man, with O’Brian joining him as a fellow contestant.

Powell Reveals His Enthusiasm

The project is a dream come true for Glen Powell. He recently talked about his sheer excitement for the film. He shared some of their behind-the-scenes moments. “The world that Edgar’s developed on this thing is just outrageous. I’m so good. And really, we’re both such big fans of the Stephen King book. But I searched my email for Edgar Wright and found a wish list. Edgar Wright was always on top of it. I’m such an Edgar Wright man. Getting to work with him is so damn cool,” he said.

O’Brian’s Acting Journey

Katy O’Brian boasts an impressive acting record. She’s starred opposite Kristen Stewart in Love Lies Bleeding. Her TV credits include appearances on The CW’s Black Lightning and Disney+’s The Mandalorian. However, joining the cast of The Running Man is her latest accomplishment.
