Walker Scobell Hints at a “Different” Beginning

Under the Sea of Monsters: Percy Jackson’s Next Adventure

Walker Scobell is ready to leap back into action as Percy in "Percy Jackson and the Olympians." The buzz is palpable for the upcoming season hitting Disney+ later this year. Adapted from the second book, "Sea of Monsters," the series promises a fresh vibe. But don’t just attribute that to the storyline.

Growing Pains and Rising Stardom

Scobell, who landed the Percy role at 12, is now a robust 16. His growth—literally—is hard to ignore. Now taller and with a deeper voice, he notes the challenges. "It’s odd playing a 12-year-old when you’re way past that age," he admitted. This reflection came during SCAD TVfest 2025 in Atlanta, where he snagged the prestigious Rising Star Award.

Despite his transformation, the series promises relentless energy. Scobell teases more action than before and an unyielding pace. Last season had lingering dialogues; this season? Constant motion reflecting "Sea of Monsters’" high stakes.

Tensions and New Faces

But it’s not just sword fights keeping the tension alive. Percy’s relationship with Annabeth, Leah Sava Jeffries’ character, hits a rocky patch. Friction appears early, thanks to their time apart. "They argue a bit at the start, and it doesn’t just disappear," Scobell revealed. As fans will see, getting back to familiar grounds takes time.

Fans are buzzing about Daniel Diemer joining the cast as Tyson, Percy’s cyclops half-brother. Scobell is thrilled with the casting choice. Diemer’s first audition was memorable, thanks to an old trident necklace. "Oh my God, [Daniel] is perfect," Scobell exclaimed. Diemer’s past as a Percy fan adds authenticity to the role.

New Heights in Vancouver

Filming wrapped recently in Vancouver, hinting at some of the wildest sequences yet. The team explored more real locations, amplifying the epic feel. This adventure promises to be larger than life. Scobell shared that his behind-the-scenes experience has sparked an interest in directing someday.

Fans eagerly await the series’ return and, even more, Scobell’s favorite book reveal: "The Last Olympian." For now, viewers must hold tight for autumn’s arrival, ready for a stormy Sea of Monsters ride.
