Snipes Surprises As Blade in Deadpool 3 After Reynolds’ Invite
Just when you think Hollywood has exhausted all its tricks, in strolls Wesley Snipes wielding his Blade persona once more. Apparently set on ignoring Avengers: Secret Wars, Snipes decided to steal the spotlight in the recent fan-favorite, Deadpool 3.
Wesley Snipes credits this surprise maneuver to none other than Ryan Reynolds, his co-star from Blade: Trinity, which premiered in the archaic period known as 2004.
Playing with The Players
“It’s going fantastic,” Snipes proudly stated at Comic-Con, after screening the movie. “I just got a chance to see the movie, and woo wee!”
He attributed his unexpected cameo to a cryptic text from Reynolds. “It all started with a text from Ryan Reynolds. I saw the text that said, ‘I want to talk to you.’ I was like, ‘I despise this dude.’ No, just kidding. We’ve had this rapport for two decades, believe it or not, we’ve actually liked each other the whole time,” he revealed in laughter.
“He called and proposed this wild idea,” Snipes explained. “At first, I wasn’t quite sure how Reynolds was going to pull that off. Nevertheless, I told him if you can make your daydream a reality, heck, I’ll jump on board. He was flabbergasted,” Snipes recounts with a chuckle.
“Mission Impossible” Becomes Possible
“I didn’t think it was doable. I was skeptical whether Reynolds could pull it off, let alone Marvel and Disney going for it. Especially since they had already cast Mahershala Ali for the upcoming iteration. It simply didn’t add up to me.”
“But when you get a cryptic call from Ryan Reynolds after two decades, you just know you’ve got to answer and see what he’s up to. He told me about his plan, said they’ve all greenlit it, and it’s a go. So, I thought ‘Why not?’ and here we are,” Snipes added with a certain level of awe.
The Art of Secrecy and The Future
Keeping the cameo under wraps was like a high-stakes game of Poker for Snipes. “Oh, that was a challenge! I had to be an undercover agent even to my family. So, it was quite the covert operation,” he confessed.
Snipes also expressed gratitude to his supporters and the positive reception of his role, adding that it stirred in him a desire to do more Marvel films. So, who knows, we could be seeing more of Snipes slicing and dicing in the Marvel universe. Because in Hollywood, comebacks are as common as sightings of wannabe actors at Starbucks, and Snipes is no exception to the rule.
